The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons (AFMS.ppt):*

Suppressed rainfall prevailed over many places in the Southern Africa
countries.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over southern Congo-Brazzaville, western DRC, much of Angola, portions of
northern Namibia, and Ethiopia. In contrast, there is an increased chance
for below-average rainfall over northern DRC, western Uganda, Rwanda, parts
of eastern Zambia, Tanzania, northern Malawi, and portions of northern
Mozambique.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons (AAMS.ppt):*

Not available for this week.

*South American Monsoons (SAMS.ppt):*

Long-term rainfall deficits increased over most of the Amazon Basin and
Central Brazil.

During the last 7 days (15-21 February2016), below-average precipitation
was observed over most of the Amazon Basin, and portions of central and
Southeast Brazil and Bolivia. Above-average precipitation was observed
over portions of northern Peru, and northern and eastern Argentina.

For 22-28 February 2016, below-average precipitation is predicted for the
central and eastern Amazon Basin, and portions of Central and Southeast
Brazil. Above-average precipitation is predicted for Peru, western
Bolivia, Paraguay and southern Brazil.
