The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons (AFMS.ppt):*

Portions of Tanzania received above-average rainfall, whereas moisture
deficits continued to prevail across many places in Southeastern Africa.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for below-average rainfall
over northern DRC, Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana, Zimbabwe, northern South
Africa, Mozambique, and southern Madagascar. In contrast, there is an
increased chance for above-average rainfall over portions of South Africa,
Lesotho, northern Malawi, southern Tanzania, eastern Zambia, and northern
Mozambique.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons (AAMS.ppt):*

Not available for this week.

*South American Monsoons (SAMS.ppt):*

Long-term rainfall deficits continue over the Amazon Basin and Central
Brazil.

During the last 7 days (8-14 February2016), below-average precipitation was
observed over most of the Amazon Basin, portions of central and Southeast
Brazil, and most of Bolivia and Paraguay. Above-average precipitation was
observed over northern Peru, and northern and eastern Argentina.

For 15-21 February 2016, below-average precipitation is predicted for most
of the Amazon Basin, Central Brazil, southern Bolivia, Paraguay and extreme
northern Argentina. Above-average precipitation is predicted for portions
of Peru, Southeast Brazil, Uruguay and eastern Argentina.
