[Ncep.list.emc.monsoondesk] Weekly Updates of Global Monsoon Systems

The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:

*HIGHLIGHTS:*



*African Monsoons (AFMS.ppt):*



Weekly total rainfall exceeded 150mm over western Guinea, western Senegal
and southern Mali. Locally heavy rainfall was also observed over western
Ethiopia, southern Chad and southern Sudan.



Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over southern Mali, Burkina Faso, western Niger, northwestern Nigeria, as
well as, throughout portions of Chad, Sudan and western Ethiopia. In
contrast, there is an increased chance for below-average rainfall
throughout several Gulf of Guinea countries including Guinea, Sierra Leone,
Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Benin.





*Asian-Australian Monsoons (AAMS.ppt):*



AAMS weekly summary is not available for the weeks of Aug. 24, 31, and
Sept. 07, and will be resumed on Sept. 14, 2015.





*North American Monsoons (NAMS.ppt):*



Above-average rainfall has been observed over northwestern Mexico while
southwestern US received slightly below-average precipitation during the
past week.



Rainfall accumulations over the past 30 days were below-average over nearly
the entire NAM domain.



NCEP/GFS Forecasts call for below-average rainfall over Mexico and
near-average rainfall over southwestern US during the next two weeks.





*South American Monsoons (SAMS.ppt):*



The South American Monsoon System 2014-2015 wet season has ended. The next
weekly update will be prepared in September 2015. The summary of the
2014-2015 wet season can be found on the following webpage:
