[Ncep.list.emc.monsoondesk] FWD: AGU Chapman Conference on Asian Monsoon

Dear Colleagues:



  On behalf of Gabriel Lau and the organizing committee, please find
attached the announcement of an AGU Chapman Conference on “Evolution of the
Asian monsoon and its impact on landscape, environment and society – Using
the past as the key to the future.” The conference will be held in Hong
Kong, China from June 14-18, 2015. The primary goals of the meeting are:



(1) Synthesize what is known about monsoon atmospheric science and
interannual variability. Assess connections with Pacific and Atlantic and
future predictions.



(2) Reconstruct changes in the intensity of the Asian summer monsoon over
decadal, centennial and millennial time-scales and relate these changes to
environmental changes.



(3) Examine the rise and development of Asian civilizations in the context
of Holocene climate and environmental changes.



(4) Highlight the economic and security impacts within Asia of climatic
changes in the monsoon system.



The abstract deadline is March 15, 2015.
