[Ncep.list.wwatch3.discussion-group] Public Release v6 Branch (PRv6)

Hi Everyone,


Thanks all for sending us the feature branches and helping to debug the
issues during the regression test. We have merged them to the master after
doing the first round of regression test on our system successfully. First
mission accomplished.


Now we have two major milestones:

> We have created a Public Release V6 branch (PRv6) on Vlab, which we aim
to use for debugging. We are going to do a comprehensive series of tests
with different compilers, etc. to make sure the code is working. We'd
appreciate if you will take this branch and test it on your end and
report back any issue you might see. Similar to the master, Jessica and I
are the only ones who are permitted to push changes to it. So please
contact us with your bug fixes, and we will merge those changes from your
branch to PRv6 and the master.  We might contact you if we need your
assistance to fix a bug.

Note that no more new developments are going into this branch. You still
can continue development in your branches, which can be merged to the
master (not PRv6).  Also note, when making bug fixes branches
(bf_<description> or something else), create a branch from the PRv6 branch
(not the master!).  If you want to make a new feature for the master,
create a branch from the master and call it fb_<description>.


> As we are approaching the other deadline for the documentation (Nov 1st),
we encourage you to go and check the documentation, add comments, edit and
add your stuff. Lots of things are out of date and in need of updates.
Please use the docedit branch for any manual updates.  (Make sure to
frequently do git pulls to stay in sync with the branch).
