NOAA nowCOAST Status Message

Maps of forecast guidance (e.g. water levels, water temperatures, and
currents predictions) from the NOAA/National Ocean Service's operational
oceanographic forecast modeling systems for U.S. coastal waters and the
Great Lakes are  available again on nowCOAST's map services and map viewer
(screenshot below).

This includes maps of forecast guidance from the new versions of the NOS
Lake Superior and Lake Ontario Operational Forecast Systems which use FVCOM
as their core 3-D numerical ocean forecast model instead of the Princeton
Ocean Model.  In addition, the new versions have higher spatial
resolutions.  LSOFS and LOOFS were upgraded by NOS in collaboration with
NWS/NCEP Central Operations on October 24, 2022.
