All,

As a follow up, IA just sent out a website from the NIH that lists out all
of the HTSOS country requirements. It can be found below.

All:

Please note that Dept of State has designated additional countries that now
require the High Threat Security Overseas Seminar (HTSOS) training. When
the Electronic County Clearance (ECC) is initiated, the travel arranger
will be made aware of which countries now require this training. This
training is now required for Canada, so it is likely that this will soon
become a
a required training. This course takes 3 hours to complete online.

IA recommends having any potential travelers take this course ($80 fee) as
the wait time to get enrolled can be quite long. See below for further
details.

Good Afternoon All,
With the start of 2018, the Department of State has designated additional
countries as locations that require High Threat Security Overseas Seminar
(HTSOS) training for Federal Employees in order to
receive clearance/approval from DOS to travel via eCountryClearance (eCC).

Please see below with regards to the High Threat Security Overseas
Training Seminar that is required by the Department of State to travel to
certain countries. We have noticed that the website for the course has
changed. It can now be found at https://fsitraining.state.gov/Home/Index/8.
I've copied and pasted the portion of the website that applies to the HTSOS
course. For any questions or registration issues please contact FSI at the
email or fax listed below.

While the countries that require this vary, one of them is Canada, so I
think that this will soon become a required training for in addition to the
defensive travel briefing. I know it is $80, but it is a good idea to have
any potential travelers take this course as the wait time to get enrolled
can be quite long. If you have any other questions, please feel free to
chat me, send me an email or give me a call. All travel preparers
throughout the NWS have already been given this information.

Regards,
Ethan
