The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:

*HIGHLIGHTS:*



*African Monsoons:*



Weekly rainfall totals exceeded 100mm over local areas in Nigeria and
southeastern DRC, southern Uganda, eastern Zambia, parts of southern and
eastern Tanzania, and local areas in northern Mozambique and the far
southern Madagascar.



Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over parts of southern Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, parts of northern Angola,
southwestern DRC, parts of Tanzania and northern Madagascar. There is an
increased chance for below-average rainfall over many parts of southern
Angola, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique.





*Asian-Australian Monsoons:*



Will be available later this afternoon.





*South American Monsoons:*



Long-term rainfall deficits are present over the Amazon Basin and the
Brazilian Plateau, as well as the extreme southern Brazil.



During the last 7 days, below-average precipitation was observed over
portions of northern, western and southern Brazil, northern Argentina,
Paraguay, eastern Bolivia and eastern Peru.  Above-average precipitation
was observed over portions of eastern Brazil and eastern central Argentina.



For Days 1-7 (25 Feb – 03 Mar 2019), below-average precipitation is
predicted for portions of northern and central Brazil, much of Uruguay and
northern Argentina, northern and southern Peru as well as southern
Colombia.  Above-average precipitation is predicted for southern and
portions of central Brazil, eastern Paraguay, Bolivia and central Peru.
