the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons

*HIGHLIGHTS:*



*African Monsoons:*



Rainfall was below-average over many places in the Gulf of Guinea countries.



Above-average rainfall was observed across portions of central and eastern
Africa.



Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over parts of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, CAR, parts of eastern DRC, Burundi,
Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, and Ethiopia. In contrast, there is an
increased chance for below-average rainfall over parts of Guinea, Sierra
Leone, Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, and southern Mali.





*Asian-Australian Monsoons:*

*South American Monsoons:*



Long-term rainfall deficits are present over the Amazon Basin, the
Brazilian Plateau and the extreme southern Brazil.



During the last 7 days, below-average precipitation was observed over
portions of northern Brazil, southern Chile and northern Peru.
Above-average precipitation was observed over portions of central and the
extreme southern Brazil, Paraguay and southern Colombia.



For Days 1-7 (21 - 27 May 2018), below-average precipitation is predicted
over much of northern and southern Brazil, Uruguay, southern Paraguay,
central Chile, northern Argentina, Bolivia and southern Peru. Above-average
precipitation is predicted for portions of northern Peru, Ecuador and much
of Colombia.
