The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons

*HIGHLIGHTS:*



*African Monsoons:*



Above-average rainfall was observed over much of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania,
Malawi and northern Mozambique.



Suppressed rainfall continued to prevail over many places in Southern
Africa.



Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for below-average rainfall
over portions of Angola, western Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa
and southern Mozambique. In contrast, there is an increased chance for
above-average rainfall over much of Tanzania, southern DRC, eastern Zambia,
Malawi and northern Mozambique.





*Asian-Australian Monsoons:*

*South American Monsoons:*



During the last 7 days, below-average precipitation was observed over much
of central and southern Brazil, Paraguay and eastern Bolivia, as well as
portions of western Colombia, central Peru and northern Argentina.
Above-average precipitation was observed over much of northern Brazil,
Uruguay, northeastern Argentina and portions of eastern Colombia.



For Days 1-7 (17 - 23 Dec 2018), below-average precipitation is predicted
for much of Venezuela and Brazil.  Above-average precipitation is predicted
for portions of the extreme southern Brazil, Uruguay, northeastern
Argentina, western Bolivia and much of Peru.
