The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons:*

Rainfall was below-average along the Gulf of Guinea coast, northern Angola,
parts of DRC, Uganda and eastern Ethiopia.

Portions of Tanzania and many places in Southern Africa received
above-average rainfall.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over portions of Angola, northern Zambia, eastern and southern DRC, Rwanda,
Burundi, southern Uganda, western Tanzania and northern Kenya, and parts of
Somalia and Ethiopia. In contrast there is an increased chance for
below-average rainfall across southeastern Kenya and eastern Tanzania.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons:*

For the past 90 days, below normal rainfall deficits remain over almost
eastern two thirds of Australia (except along the coast), Papua New
Guinea, as well as over the Middle East and parts of northern India.
Elsewhere, in general, the rainfall amounts received were at normal to
slightly above normal levels. For the past 30 days, the notable features
are the lower rainfall amounts over northwestern Australia and over New
Guinea island, and also over coastal south eastern China.

In this past week, the main rainfall feature is the below normal amounts
over southeastern China, the Philippines islands, and the Indonesian
archipelago. In the upcoming two weeks, the NCEP GFS model is predicting
near normal rainfall over southern parts of India, more rainfall over
northeast India, Bangladesh and western parts of Indonesian archipelago,
and less rainfall over eastern Indonesian archipelago, eastern coastal
China and Northern Australia.

*South American Monsoons:*
