The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons:*

Suppressed rainfall prevailed across many places in East Africa, whereas
parts of Nigeria, Cameroon, CAR, and portions of the Southern Africa
countries received above-average rainfall.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over portions of northeastern Angola, northern Zambia, southern and eastern
DRC, portions of Uganda and Kenya, and southeastern Ethiopia. In contrast,
there is an increased chance for below-average rainfall across portions of
Cameroon, CAR, and South Sudan.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons:*

Not available until 01 May, 2017.

*South American Monsoons:*

Long-term rainfall deficits are present over the Amazon Basin and central
Brazil.

During the last 7 days (10-16 Apr 2017), below-average precipitation was
observed over much of Brazil, Colombia and southern Chile. Above-average
precipitation was observed over much of Ecuador, central Argentina and
portions of northwestern and extreme southern Brazil.

For 17 - 23 Apr 2017, below-average precipitation is predicted over much of
Peru, northern Argentina, Uruguay, as well as portions of northern and
central Brazil. Above-average precipitation is predicted for much of
Bolivia, Paraguay, southern Chile, as well as portions of northern Brazil.
