The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems (SAMS.ppt, AFMS.ppt and AAMS.ppt) have been
updated on the CPC Global Monsoons website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons (AFMS.ppt):*

Weekly total rainfall exceeded 120mm over portions of western Gabon and
Angola, whereas suppressed rainfall prevailed over many places of the
southern Africa countries.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall
over Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo-Brazzaville, western DRC, northern
Angola, portions of southern and eastern Ethiopia, and northern Kenya. In
contrast, there is an increased chance for below-average rainfall over much
of Zambia, portions of eastern Angola and southern DRC, northern Zimbabwe,
Malawi and portions of northern Mozambique.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons (AAMS.ppt):*

For the past 90 days, the rainfall pattern over south Asia and southeast
Asia is very patchy, with above normal and below normal regions here and
there, except for most parts of central and eastern Australia where it has
been below normal throughout. For the past 30 days, rainfall is below
normal over the Philippines, Japan and over northern and eastern Australia.
Rainfall is above normal over parts of east central China and maritime
Indonesia.

In this past week, rainfall was above normal over large parts of Indonesia
and along eastern China north of 30N. Elsewhere, rainfall was at or below
normal levels. For the next couple of weeks, the NCEP GFS model predicts
near to below normal rainfall across the region except for slightly above
normal over eastern China in the first week.

*South American Monsoons (SAMS.ppt):*

Rainfall deficits increase over central Brazil and the southern Amazon
Basin.

During the last 7 days (17-23 November 2014), below-average precipitation
was observed over portions of western, central, southeastern and southern
Brazil, Bolivia, and northeastern Argentina. Above-average precipitation
was observed over Northeast Brazil and portions of the eastern Amazon Basin.

For 24 -30 November 2014, below average precipitation is predicted for most
of the Amazon Basin and central and Northeast Brazil. Above-average
precipitation is predicted for Bolivia and Southeast Brazil.
