Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
--- Craig Mattocks
1. The AWIPS II D2D collaboration server connection issues are getting
worse. The connection is slow, times out, and does not allow access to the
marine chat room. NCO Linux Sysadmin Doug Gaer investigated and determined
that NCF needs to fix their server or tell NHC what IP address to point to.
1. ATCF issues: Multiple reports of the ATCF running very slowly for
Hurricane Jose due to the large size of the A-deck. Performance was so
sluggish that an inadvertent click near/over the 'Send to the World? - Yes'
button was executed before the button fully appeared on the screen, so the
TCM was issued too early, at 0150 UTC.
The previous 21z advisory was issued as a correction and a Public
Information Statement was sent to let users know about the preliminary
release of the Forecast Advisory (TCM).
Acting HSU Branch Chief Mike Brennan trimmed the A-deck from 39 MB to 12 MB
this morning, but it immediately ballooned back to 36 MB when guidance was
retrieved from WCOSS. Mike and Craig Mattocks will modify the guidance
retrieval script to remove unimportant ensemble trackers prior to retrieval.
