Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
--- Mark

Plans are still underway for converting the TAFB NAWIPS systems to RHEL6.
So far, only cumulus has been converted, but it is still having issues.
Cumulus has different graphics cards than the other systems that were
successfully upgraded in HSU. No changes will be made to the remaining TAFB
workstations until Thursday. See NHC-wide section for more details.

The 28 March 00 UTC NWPS did not run to completion but other runs did
finish. Some adjustments are being made to the NWPS processing in the next
days so we will continue to watch for this problem after the conversion.

LX8 at the TAFB backup desk was upgraded to 27" monitors but the resolution
is poor and cannot be used. A dual threaded monitor cable was ordered today
to fix this problem. It should arrive in a few days.

The TAFB Situational Awareness NAWIPS box has bad resolution on both
monitors. Also, only the NAWIPS account tafbsam appears to be working,
which does not allow for the loading of spfs. An NCO helpdesk ticket was
Cleanup from the NAWIPS migration continues. All systems except sawfish at
the Pacific desk appear to be working. Also, NCO is testing the 8-bit
version on the lower monitor of ridges, which appears to be working so far.
That fixes the problem with having to reload satellite loops when the
enhancement table is changed. Ridges is going through a rigorous B-test,
aka Beven-test, to make sure it remains stable.

In preparation for the conversion of TAFB operational N-AWIPS systems,
James agreed to let TAFB test product generation on the HSU backup desk
over the next few days.
Other items:
NCO is sending Paul Obe to NHC today to help with the NAWIPS conversion
issues. He will be at NHC on Wednesday, and will join Brian Maher and Kevin
Miller (working remotely from College Park) to address remaining problems
as soon as possible during the conversion. Mark will coordinate with TAFB
on the upgrade plan for the remaining TAFB workstations after Paul arrives
