Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
1) One of the 2 main security cameras (front door?) display is out on the
TAFB Situational Awareness Display monitor and WFO MFL Monitor. TSB will
followup and may submit a helpdesk ticket if one was not already opened by
TAFB over the weekend
1) The background screen turned green on on the bottom of ridges after
sending the Atlantic GTWO on Sunday. This occurred again, but the screen
turned pink 4Z Sunday and promptly rebooted. TSB will followup and see if
any additional work may be required from NCO.
2) Forecasters requested a single location in AWIPS2 for all the G16
colorbars. While Chris M can certainly create a site-wide localization for
any colormaps that were developed locally (ie by in-house AWIPS2 users) and
colormaps converted from NAWIPS, creating a central location for baseline
and TOWR-S colormaps may be difficult as TSB does not have as much control
over how these are released to us in each RPM. However, Chris M may
investigate if this is possible.
1) Forecasters noted that the GOES-16 satellite data usually comes in a
couple minutes faster on AWIP2 than NAWIPS - this is because there is
additional processing required to turn the G16 data into Area file format
for NAWIPS to read. AWIPS2 will read the broadcasted NetCDF format outright.
2) Joe Zajic is planning to upgrade the processing code for the G16 data
today after the HSU 11am advisory. The upgrade should be seamless to the
forecasters, but please let Monica or anyone else in TSB know if you notice
any new issues with the G16 data post-upgrade.
No RFCs scheduled to be implemented this week
