Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
1. The 18Z Thursday experimental Pacific offshore waters forecasts on the
NHC website TAFB product listings were from 09Z [the previous] night on the
mid shift. After storing the afternoon issuances (230 pm PDT) of these two
products twice, they updated on the web. TSB web developers will monitor.
1. The Tropical Storm Arlene Advisory #8 graphics updated fine, but the NHC
web page map containing the TS symbol did not update/appear. The web page
instead defaulted to the TAFB Marine maps page... possibly due to no active
TWOAT available? TSB Web Developer Dave Zelinsky confirmed that, since no
Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook (TWOAT) was active, the process timed
out. Dave manually fixed the problem; he will have to switch it off later.
2. ATCF issues: No satellite imagery in ATCF for TS Arlene (storm ID
AL012017). No satellite imagery could be retrieved from NRL due to a
network outage that began at about 1800 UTC Wednesday, April 19.
Connections were restored at 0656 UTC (about 3 am EDT) today.
3. No ECMWF-based SHIPS available at 06Z Thursday, despite pulling the
files 5 times. TSB Developer Matt Sardi determined (from the GriB unpacking
log files on WCOSS) that the guidance suite was run before the latest ECMWF
data had been ingested and processed.
1. From the SDM's log:

4c. 2113Z [Thursday, 4/20] - NowCOAST's John Evans emailed: "NHC made
changes to their [shapefile] data formats for the 2017 hurricane season and
the nowCOAST team missed the communication for those changes. After
analyzing the new format, we noted some issues and have engaged NHC on this
and they've agreed to make some changes to try to help us out."
