Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
--- Mark

TSB continues to work with NCO on the lingering issues related to the RHEL6
upgrade of the NAWIPS systems. The time zone issue was addressed yesterday
(should be UTC), and the screen savers are being disabled. Some systems are
sensitive to certain combinations of SPFs and the PG pallet. Scott
Stripling provided a combination that routinely causes problems, so we can
provide that as a test case for NCO.

One of the TAFB forecasters reported a lout noise coming from the
communications room by the lunch room. That was coming from the CARCAH rely
box in that room. CARCAH confirmed with their technicians that there is no
issue with that system, but it does intermittently sound like a
high-pitched vacuum cleaner.

An NCO Helpdesk Ticket was opened to fix the problem with the NHC Ops

Other items:
Meteosat-7 over the Indian Ocean went out of service at the end of March.
Meteosat-8 now provides coverage over that region. TSB will look into
getting the Met-8 data in the next few weeks.

Mark asked NCO to look further into the issue with the slow downloading of
the GFS.
