A summary of NHC computer operations.
1. Doug Gaer finished installing all hardware (RAM memory, internal SSDs and hard drives, external enclosure and its internal hard drives, RAID disk controllers) during the upgrade of SSU's 48-core sardine server last night. In the process, he discovered some loose RAM memory modules, so he snapped them back in place. NCO Linux SysAdmin Brian Maher patched the kernel so the system is now running the latest version of the RHEL 6.7 OS. There is one remaining issue with the BIOS (the firmware used to initialize the hardware in the boot process) - it sometimes tries to boot from the wrong disk array. Doug will work with the vendor to see if the BIOS needs to be updated, then make sure the machine boots in the correct sequence multiple times before he brings it back online. In the meantime, the NWPS simulations for the Atlantic domain will continue to be run on the comp02 server and no NWPS simulations will be run for the Pacific domain.
1. No new issues
1. NCO Linux SysAdmin Martin Graham was able to revive warehouse (the large disk storage system). All critical data is in the process of being backed up and moved to other systems.
