Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
--- Craig Mattocks

----------

TAFB:
1. NCO Windows SysAdmin Marc Laurent found a spare ink cartridge and
brought the black Dell AWIPS printer (LP1-NHCN) in the TAFB ops area back
to life.

2. TAFB Forecaster Gladys Rubio could not log into the AWIPS chat system.
TSB AWIPS expert Chris Mello initiated her account and reminded her that
AWIPS usernames should be in Google Firstname.Lastname format.
HSU:
1. The hissing/static sound has returned to the Hurricane Hotline after
AT&T fixed the problem a few days ago. No ring or red light occurred at NHC
with the 17Z/1 pm medium range Conference call, although WPC and Navy
Norfolk, VA heard the ring tone. Contact phone number for AT&T:
1-888-857-8823, ticket number: 680800944.

2. Hurricane Specialists were unable to run the XGTWO graphics on the
Atlantic N-AWIPS workstation (ridges) at 12Z/8 am yesterday; the script
would close out when the palette icon was clicked on to append the previous
graphic to the satellite image. After rebooting the system at 18Z/2 pm, the
XGTWO script ran fine. A similar issue developed later in the day with the
Pacific N-AWIPS workstation; rebooted and system is operating normally
again.

3. Hurricane Specialists reported that the ATCF display was freezing up on
the Pacific ATCF workstation. It is now working normally.

4. Senior Hurricane Specialist Stacy Stewart encountered a temporary glitch
when trying to load radar imagery in the N-AWIPS workstation at the backup
desk (bonefish) - many radar sites were missing from the menus and the data
would not load. All functionality returned when he tried again a few
minutes later.
