Here is today's summary of NHC computer operations:
You no longer have to log in to your NOAA e-mail account in Chrome when
filling out the TAFB shift log. Monica changed the default setting to skip
the log in requirement.
Martin notices a slowdown on the Atlantic desk AWIPS (lx2) when opening the
text editor. Chris Mello will work with him on that.
Mike identified the underlying cause of the problem with kwrite during the
first Public Advisory for Earl. The ATCF code for the intermediate advisory
can't properly parse the file when the date/time is not in the first line.
Craig is working on code modifications. Until that is ready, follow Mike's
instructions about adding text only after the date/time line.
The problems with the ECMWF SHIPS runs the past few days were due to the
ECMWF grib files coming into WCOSS a little later than usual and out of
time order. Matt modified the grib decoding script so that it only copies
the files to the final location when all needed times are completed, rather
than just the last forecast time.
The CARCAH Windows systems were updated and rebooted in the middle of
processing a recon mission last night. TSB will work with NCO and CARCAH to
make sure the automatic updates are skipped during missions.
