Here is today's update on NHC's computer operations.
1. Linux SysAdmin Martin Graham and TSB Developer Matt Sardi are working closely with TAFB Lead Forecaster Jeff LewiTsky to configure the new standing N-AWIPS workstation (derecho) with all software required to run N-AWIPS applications. Currently some user accounts are missing, NTL does not launch automatically, and floating pop-up menus don’t appear when users left-click with the mouse.
1. Ongoing: P-Surge test cases will be run once per day at about 14 UTC (9 am local time) all week to test the AWIPS software at WFOs and continue collaboration testing.
1. AWIPS 2: NCO has discovered that the reason for the crushing network congestion on OPCN (not being able to send or receive grids) in November was caused by IT security scans.
