Subject: Leave Guidance for Early Release before the Memorial Day Holiday
Distribution: All DOC Employees (Except USPTO)
In recognition of the Memorial Day Federal holiday on Monday, May 25, 2015,
Department of Commerce employees have been granted an early dismissal on
Friday, May 22, 2015. With the exception of emergency employees, all
Department of Commerce employees present in a duty status (including
employees on telework) on Friday will be excused from duty 2 hours prior to
their normal departure time. For example, employees regularly scheduled to
work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will be excused from duty at 2:30 p.m.
The early dismissal does not apply to employees in the following status:
(1) on leave without pay pending disability retirement; (2) in receipt of
workers' compensation payments; (3) on military leave; (4) on suspension;
or (5) in a non-pay status on the last hour of the scheduled workday
immediately before and the first hour of the next scheduled workday
immediately after the early dismissal.
Since employees must be present in a duty status on Friday to benefit from
the early dismissal, employees on previously approved leave (e.g., annual
leave, sick leave, compensatory time, credit hours, etc.), or employees not
scheduled to work due to a flexible or compressed work schedule, will
remain in their current status and may not benefit from administrative
leave provided through the early dismissal.
Employees are to record the early dismissal with “Admin/Excused Absence” on
their WebTA timecards.
Please direct questions about these guidelines to your servicing human
