A new version of nowCOAST was implemented yesterday afternoon. The new<br>
version (5.0.2) includes several changes to improve the operations of<br>
nowCOAST's data ingest system, map viewer, and Point Forecast web<br>
service. Also, based on user feedback, the symbology for nowCOAST's<br>
geo-referenced hyperlinks data layers (e.g. Links to In-Situ<br>
Coastal/Lake/Ocean Platforms) was modified to improve the readability of<br>
station and forecast point locations and the GOES Visible Cloud Imagery<br>
was set as the default cloud imagery on the map viewer from 16 to 21 UTC<br>
each day while the GOES IR Imagery is the default for the remaining<br>
hours. The default transparency of GOES cloud imagery was also modified<br>
to improve the visibility of underlying features such as active NWS<br>
Watches, Warnings and Advisories for hazardous conditions.<br>

In addition, nowCOAST's Info Depot (help page) was expanded to provide<br>
more detailed information on how to use nowCOAST's REST map services and<br>
WMS (<a href="http://nowcoast.noaa.gov/help/#!section=mapservices" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">http://nowcoast.noaa.gov/help/#!section=mapservices</a>) based on user<br>
feedback. The metadata for each nowCOAST REST map service were also<br>
revised to correct typos and remove outdated information.<br>

Our sincere thanks to the personnel of NWS/NCEP Central Operations for<br>
implementing nowCOAST Ver. 5.0.2 into operations on the NOAA IDP<br>
Infrastructure.<br>
