[Ncep.list.nos-nowcoast-status] NOAA nowCOAST Status Message - Return of NWS Offshore Marine Weather Alerts

NOAA’s nowCOAST Version 6.2.0 was released today.  The new version features
the return to nowcoast.noaa.gov of the NWS marine weather alerts for NWS
offshore marine weather forecast zones.  Specifically, these include the
following marine weather alerts:
• GALE WARNING
• STORM WARNING
• HURRICANE FORCE WIND WARNING
• TROPICAL STORM WARNING
• HURRICANE WARNING
• HEAVY FREEZING SPRAY WARNING
• VOLCANIC ASHFALL ADVISORY

These alerts are issued by the National Weather Service’s Ocean Prediction
Center, National Hurricane Center, Honolulu Forecast Office, Juneau
Forecast Office, Anchorage Forecast Office, and Fairbanks Forecast Office
for their respective offshore forecast zones.

The offshore alerts are incorporated on nowCOAST with alerts (watches,
warnings, advisories, and statements) for U.S. coastal waters, the Great
Lakes, and land areas. The alerts can be found on the map viewer under the
‘Alerts’ menu item and also via the nowCOAST map service at
https://nowcoast.noaa.gov/geoserver/hazards/alerts/ows?SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0&REQUEST=GetCapabilities


Screenshots highlighting the active marine warnings associated with
Hurricane Hilary for the offshore waters of Mexico are given below.

One can click on the warning polygon and obtain the latest NWS Offshore
Marine Forecast which highlights the active marine weather warning.
