NOAA/NOS nowCOAST Status Message
9:00 AM EST Wednesday, January 11, 2016

The restriction of access to nowCOAST map services and map viewer to only
HTTPS has been rescheduled to next week.

The new planned implementation date for this change is *on or about
Tuesday, January 17, 2017*.

A reminder about the upcoming change:

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget requires that all federal
government public-facing federal websites transition to serving data via
only Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS). Due to this requirement,
nowCOAST's map services and map viewer will NO LONGER be available via
unsecured HTTP starting on or about Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

After the change is implemented, users of the nowCOAST map viewer will be
automatically redirected to the HTTPS site URL, however all other client
applications, including JavaScript or FLEX-based web mapping sites, ArcGIS
Online references, and desktop GIS applications with direct references to
http://nowcoast.noaa.gov should be modified to instead use https://
nowcoast.noaa.gov to avoid any potential interruption of service.

Therefore, *we highly recommend that nowCOAST users and partners switch to
using HTTPS to access nowCOAST's map services and map viewer as soon as
possible*.

Please contact us at nowcoast.team at noaa.gov with any questions.
