Eugene,
did you check if you use correct ifort/mpich2 libraries?

It is complaining in mpich2:

ld: MPIR_Thread: TLS definition in 
/opt/ibmhpc/pe1307/mpich2/intel/lib64/libmpi_mt.so.4 section .tbss 
mismatches non-TLS definition in 
/usrx/local/intel/impi/4.0.3.008/intel64/lib/libmpi.so section .bss
/opt/ibmhpc/pe1307/mpich2/intel/lib64/libmpi_mt.so.4: could not read 
symbols: Bad value
gmake: *** [nmm] Error 1

On the other hand, your first part (compilation with ESMF3) compiled OK.

It failed only with ESMF6. ESMF6 copy is not on universal place yet, it 
is still in Wei-Yu's /nems/save/Weiyu.Yang/ESMF_6_3_0r directory. You 
might check with him how it was compiled.
