Dear all,

The NEMSfv3gfs and FV3 VLAB git repositories was just updated with Redmine task #41232: Micriophysics options and related changes.

Following change were reviewed and committed to the repositories:

1. Thompson MP (2008) and WSM6 was added into the FV3. The
interactions between the microphysics and radiation, convection, and
boundary mixing process are addressed.

2. An option for GFDL MP was added to have better interaction
between the MP and the radiation process. The hydrospecies from the GFDL
MP are fed into the corresponding cloud related arrays in the
radiation.

3. An identifier for different microphysics options was added
through out the code to improve the readability and consistency with the
NCEP POST code.

4. the code was modified (gcycle.f) to have the climatology variability included in the foundation temperature (Tf)

5. IO related changes:
i) an option was added to output log files.
ii) fsync option was added to make sure the files are synced to disk.
iii)cloud
top and bottom pressure and cloud top temperature for low, mid and high
clouds are added in surface file, soill and cwork names are changed to match
with current names in operational nemsio files.

6) Two new regression tests: Thompson MP and WSM6 MP were added.

Thanks.

Jun
