All,
Last week VLab completed a planned migration to the AWS Cloud. As part of
that move the VLab addresses changed (see full details in forwarded email
below).
Folks who set up a Gerrit alias in their environments will need to update
the VLab address to avoid clone errors for repositories that are in VLab
(if you haven't already). In your .ssh/config (or equivalent) file update
the HostName from "vlab*.ncep*.noaa.gov" to "vlab.noaa.gov". Example:
Host gerrit
> HostName vlab.noaa.gov
> User Firstname.Lastname
> Port 29418
Note, there is a known issue with cloning from Gerrit on Hera after VLab's
move. The sys admins for Hera are working to resolve the issue. If you have
similar clone errors on other platforms please open tickets to their
respective helpdesk tickets.
Thanks!

Subject: The VLab is Moving to the Cloud [UPDATE]
To: _NWS All VLab Users <users-all.vlab at noaa.gov>
VLab Users,
On May 21, 2021, the VLab will transition hosting of Collaboration and
Development services to the Amazon Web Services Cloud. The following
information will help you prepare for and adapt to these changes.
When Will the Migration Take Place?
VLab Services will be unavailable from Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 5:00 PM
(EDT) through Friday, May 21, 2021. The VLab Support Team (VLST) has been
hard at work getting everything migrated to the Cloud. The outage will
allow the VLST to synchronize the last changes to the Cloud environment,
while ensuring that no changes are taking place on the existing systems.
What's Changing?
*The URL is changing from vlab.ncep.noaa.gov <http://noaa.gov> to
vlab.noaa.gov <http://vlab.noaa.gov>**. * After the migration on the 21st,
you should begin using the following links:
VLab Collaboration Communities: https://vlab.noaa.gov/
Redmine*: https://vlab.noaa.gov/redmine
Gerrit: https://vlab.noaa.gov/code-review/
Jenkins: https://vlab.noaa.gov/jenkins/
While the URL is the only change you will directly see, there are lots of
other changes behind the scenes that should lead to improved performance
and stability of the VLab Services.
To help you adapt to the new addresses and provide you more information on
the migration, the VLab Support Team has prepared the following migration
site.
https://vlab.ncep.noaa.gov/group/guest/migration-to-aws
We have also scheduled a webinar for May 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM (EDT), to
provide interested VLab users with an update on the migration process as
well as a chance to ask questions about the move. You can register for the
cloud migration update meeting using the following link:

If you are unable to attend the webinar, please know that we plan to record
the meeting and provide access to it from the migration page mentioned
above.
Finally, for those of you who would like to receive status messages about
the move to the cloud, go to our migration forum using the link below and
click the blue "Subscribe" link in the upper right corner of the page.

* Read-Only O&M Redmine and Redmine2 will also have the new URL.
Regards,
John Schattel
