<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:12pt"><b> </b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">During
the past seven days, above-average rainfall was observed over many places in
the Greater Horn of Africa.<span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Week-1
outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall over much of
Guinea, Sierra Leone, western Liberia, northwestern Cote d'Ivoire, southern
Mali, much of Burkina Faso, northern Ghana, western Niger, northern Togo,
northern Benin, and northwestern Nigeria. In contrast, there is an increased
chance for below-average rainfall over eastern Liberia, southern Cote d'Ivoire,
southern Ghana, southern Togo and southern Benin, portions of DRC, western
Uganda and Rwanda.<span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b> </b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Asian-Australian Monsoons:<span></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For the past 90 days, below normal rainfall deficits remain
in general over parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, southcentral India, south
Korea, Japan, Papa New Guinea, and large parts of Australia. During same
period, rainfall excess is noted over northeastern India, Bangladesh, and many
southeast Asian countries. For the past 30 days near normal rainfall situation
is noted over India and Australia, but the longer term rainfall deficits remain
still remain over Australia. Deficits also remain over southern and eastern
China, South Korea, and Japan. <span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> In this past week,
the observed rainfall amounts have generally been well below normal over
southern China and other South China Sea countries. The summer SW monsoon has
begun its onset over southern India, but its onward progress last week was less
than clear. In the next couple of weeks the NCEP GFS model is predicting above
normal rainfall over the coastal regions of central India and parts of eastern
China. Elsewhere, near to below normal rainfall is forecast. There are no
active tropical storms at this time.<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>North American
Monsoons:<span></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Above-average rainfall has been observed over southern
Mexico during the past week. <span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Rainfall accumulations over the past 30 days were
near-average for southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico, below-average for
central Mexico, and above-average over much of extreme southern Mexico. <span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">NCEP/GFS Forecast calls for above-average precipitation for
southern Mexico during 05 – 11 June 2017.<span></span></p>
