<p class="MsoNormal"><span>Weekly
total rainfall exceeded 100m over local areas in Senegal and southwestern Mali,
western Guinea and northern Sierra Leone, local areas in Cote<span>  </span>d’Ivoire, northern Togo, portions of eastern
Nigeria, northern Cameroon, and local areas in western CAR, whereas suppressed
rainfall prevailed over Uganda, and eastern South Sudan.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span>Week-1
outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall over much of
Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Sierra Leone, Liberia, parts of
southern Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, portions of Ghana, and western Ethiopia. In
contrast, there is an increased chance for below-average rainfall over parts of
eastern DRC, Uganda, portions of western Kenya, and eastern South Sudan.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Asian-Australian
Monsoons:</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">For the past 90 days rainfall amounts are showing a mixed
pattern over the monsoon region with slightly deficient conditions over parts
of central western India, particularly the state of Gujarat,<span>  </span>and central eastern India, southern
peninsular India, central China, Koreas, parts of Japan and Papua New Guinea,
but above normal elsewhere particularly the Indonesian archipelago and the
Philippines. For the past 30 days the rainfall situation is overall a dry
pattern over southern peninsular India and central and eastern China, the
Koreas, southwest Japan, the Philippines and New Guinea. Elsewhere, rainfall
was at generally near normal or above normal levels.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>In this past week, monsoon rainfall was generally deficient
across much of the region. Typhoon Lionrock brought high seas and havoc to
Japan, but bringing the much needed rainfall to the dry conditions there.<span>  </span>According to the India Met. Dept. (IMD), as
of today, for the 2016 monsoon season so far, since the 1st of June, the
monsoon rainfall has been near normal with<span> 
</span>about -3 % level across the country. In the next couple of weeks the
NCEP GFS is predicting generally below normal rainfall over much of the region,
combined with the expected gradual withdrawal phase of the southwest summer
Indian monsoon from the north and western parts of India. Less rainfall is also
predicted over central eastern China, while above normal rainfall is forecast
near coastal southern China

Monsoons:</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b> </b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Near-average rainfall has been observed over southwestern
U.S. during the past week. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Rainfall accumulations over the past 30 days were slightly
below-average for southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">NCEP/GFS Forecasts call for near-average precipitation for Arizona/New
Mexico during 06 - 19 September, 2016.</p>
