rainfall was observed over portions of the Gulf of Guinea the Greater Horn of
countries, while rainfall was below-average over parts of Senegal, western
Mali, and parts of Nigeria and Chad.</span></p>

outlooks call for an increased chance for above-average rainfall over eastern
Senegal, Guinea, central and southern Mali, Burkina Faso, western Niger,
northwestern Nigeria, Eritrea and western Ethiopia.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">Asian-Australian
Monsoons:</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">For the past 90 days rainfall amounts are showing a mixed
pattern over the monsoon region with slightly deficient conditions over parts
of central western India, particularly the state of Gujarat,<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">  </span>and central eastern India, Thailand, Laos,
and Cambodia, and parts of Papua New Guinea, but above normal elsewhere
particularly the Indonesian archipelago. For the past 30 days the rainfall
situation was also a mixed pattern with deficient rainfall over Gujarat and
central eastern India, southern and northeastern China and Japan. Elsewhere,
rainfall was at generally at near normal or above normal levels.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">In this past week, monsoon rainfall was generally below
normal over northern and southern India, far northeastern China and Japan.
According to the India Met. Dept. (IMD), as of today, for the 2016 monsoon
season so far, since the 1st of June, the monsoon rainfall has been near
normal<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">  </span>by about +3 % across the
country.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">   </span>In the next couple of weeks
the NCEP GFS model is generally<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> 
</span>predicting below normal rainfall for much of the monsoon region.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">North American
Monsoons:</b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"> </b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Below-average rainfall has been observed over northwestern
Mexico during the past week. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Rainfall accumulations over the past 30 days were
below-average over northern Mexico. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">NCEP/GFS Forecasts call for above-average precipitation for
southwestern U.S. /northwestern Mexico during 08-14 August, 2016.</p>
