The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons

*HIGHLIGHTS:*



*African Monsoons:*

Below-average rainfall was observed across Zimbabwe, and central and
southern Mozambique. In contrast, weekly rainfall surpluses exceeded 100mm
over local areas in Tanzania and northern Mozambique.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for below-average rainfall
over northeastern DRC, western Uganda, Rwanda, southwestern Angola,
northeastern Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, northeastern South Africa and
southern Mozambique. In contrast, there is an increased chance for
above-average rainfall over portions of Angola, southern DRC, Zambia,
Malawi, northern Mozambique and northern Madagascar.


*Asian-Australian Monsoons:*

PPT update for AAMS is not available until 18 December, 2017.



*South American Monsoons:*

Long-term rainfall deficits are present over the Amazon Basin and Brazilian
Plateau.

During the last 7 days, below-average precipitation was observed over much
of northern and southern Brazil, Uruguay and eastern Argentina.
Above-average precipitation was observed over portions of central Brazil,
northern Peru and northern Bolivia.

For Days 1-7 (11-17 Dec 2017), below-average precipitation is predicted
over much of southern Brazil, Paraguay, northern Argentina, Bolivia,
southern Colombia and western Venezuela.  Above-average precipitation is
predicted for portions of central Brazil, central Colombia and southern
Chile.
