The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems have been updated on the CPC Global Monsoons
website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons (AFMS.ppt):*

Not available this week.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons (AAMS.ppt):*

For the past 90 days rainfall amounts have generally been below normal over
many parts of India, across the southern and east Asia monsoon region,
particularly over Indonesia, consistent with the ongoing strong El Nino
conditions. However, northeast India, Nepal. Bangladesh, Burma, and large
parts of southeastern China have received above normal rainfall amounts.
Australia is also relatively dry. For the past 30 days, rainfall was
considerably below normal over southern/central India, Thailand, Cambodia,
southern Vietnam and across Indonesian Archipelago. The Northeast Winter
monsoon over southern India is active and will continue to impact the
region, mainly the southeastern state of Tamilnadu, during October-December
months. Parts of southern China and northern Philippines received above
normal rainfall from west Pacific storm activity.

In this past week, the NE winter monsoon over southern India, received near
normal rainfall as well as parts of Malaysia, Indonesia and southern China
which received above normal rainfall. Elsewhere rainfall was below normal.
In the next couple of weeks, the NCEP GFS model is again predicting above
to near normal rainfall over far southern India and China, and below normal
rainfall elsewhere.

*South American Monsoons (SAMS.ppt):*

Rainfall deficits continue over many areas of northern South America,
including the Brazilian Plateau.

During the last 7 days (26 October -1 November 2015), below-average
precipitation was observed over most of northwestern South America, and
portions of southeastern and southern Brazil. Above-average precipitation
was observed over northern Argentina, central and southern Paraguay and
scattered portions of central Brazil.

For 2-8 November 2015, above-average rainfall is predicted for portions of
Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay and southern Brazil (20-30S).
Below-average rainfall is predicted for portions of central and eastern
Brazil (5-20S), and eastern Argentina.
