The weekly PowerPoint presentations summarizing the recent variability of
the global monsoon systems (SAMS.ppt, AFMS.ppt and AAMS.ppt) have been
updated on the CPC Global Monsoons website:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Global-Monsoon.shtml

*HIGHLIGHTS:*

*African Monsoons (AFMS.ppt):*

Moderate to locally heavy rainfall resulted in moisture surpluses over
Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, western Ghana, western
Burkina Faso, northern DRC, portions of CAR and South Sudan Republic.

Week-1 outlooks call for an increased chance for below-average rainfall
across many places in the Gulf of Guinea countries. In contrast, there is
an increased chance for above-average rainfall over many parts of Ethiopia,
and portions of northern Somalia.

*Asian-Australian Monsoons (AAMS.ppt):*

Update is not available for this week and it will resume next Monday.

*South American Monsoons (SAMS.ppt):*

The rainy season has ended over central Brazil, leaving large long-term
rainfall deficits over the southern Amazon Basin and portions of central
Brazil.

During the last 7 days (18-24 May 2015), below-average precipitation was
observed over western Colombia, eastern Venezuela, portions of the central
and southwestern Amazon Basin, and southern Brazil. Above-average
precipitation was observed over eastern Colombia, southern Paraguay,
southern Chile, and portions of northern and eastern Argentina.

For 25-31 May 2015, below-average precipitation is expected for most of
Peru and the Amazon Basin in Brazil. Above-average precipitation is
indicated for Paraguay and portions of southern Brazil.
