Team,

I think it would be a good idea for some of us to attend, and hey, we don't
have to worry about travel costs :) Any thoughts?

*EDM Workshop approved!*

The NOAA Environmental Data Management Committee is pleased to announce
that the 5th Annual Environmental Data Management Workshop (EDMW) will be
held September 9-11 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Event funding and group
travel have been approved, and the dates are now confirmed.

While there is no registration fee for this Workshop, those who wish to
attend must register in advance at a website to be opened and announced
within the next few days.

 *Intended audience*

NOAA employees and contractors involved or interested in data management
are encouraged to attend the workshop (subject to travel approval if
needed). Due to space limitations, non-NOAA persons may register at the
invitation of a NOAA colleague.

*Travel approval*

   - NOAA employees who were listed on the Group Travel Request (as
pre-approved by the DUS/O) will be contacted soon to notify them that they
have been approved, and are encouraged to begin making travel arrangements
(travel funding to be provided by your home duty station).
   - NOAA contractors must seek travel approval from their own contracting
   firms.

*Draft EDM Workshop program*

The Workshop's Program Development Team has been working hard to develop
the agenda for this year's Workshop, and is pleased to offer you an early
look at the topics that will be covered during the plenary sessions and
breakouts. The draft agenda (attached) was developed in response to your
feedback, as collected by way of an extensive survey of potential topics
that was distributed a few weeks ago. Some parts of the agenda are not yet
fully confirmed, and may still be subject to change.

Please stay tuned over the coming weeks for additional Workshop-related
information and announcements. If you have any initial questions, please
feel free to contact me.

 Best regards,

  Adam Steckel
